We are lucky in Fife to have so many quality food producers and their products feature seasonally in our breakfasts.
These include Wild Boar sausages from Perthshire (nearly in Fife), raspberries & strawberries from Muddy Boots Farm Shop, Organic eggs from Pillars of Hercules.
Our own homemade breads and oatcakes go perfectly with the local jams, cheeses and honeys.
The wholemeal bread, soda bread and Scottish baps are made with organic flour. The oatmeal for our oatcakes and porridge is from Hogarth's Mill in Kelso, delicious, fairly local, but not organic.
I run bread baking sessions in the B&B covering two breads in 4 hours and finishing with lunch. If you want hands on experience and a few tips on bread baking, then
email me.
And of course there is healthy, warming porridge also made with oatmeal from Hogarth's Mill in Kelso. I entered the Porridge Making Championships in Carrbridge in 2008 but though I reached the final I did not win.
If the weather is kind, you will enjoy eating in our secluded garden chatting about plants, planting and other gardens to visit.
(We have plenty of information about gardens and natural history in this area.)
As a member of Slow Food, I use local produce, frequently but not exclusively organic,
and where the food is not locally produced I look for Fairtrade goods.
Breakfast is normally served between 7.00 and 9.00am.
Please let us know the evening before what time you would like breakfast.
For evening meals, try The Lomond Tavern in Falkland, 2 miles away.
The family run Village Inn Pitlessie serves high teas, lunches and dinners, and if you fancy a change, the Kettlebridge Inn serves great Mexican food and The Crown Hotel in Kingskettle serves great Spannish food. The chef/owner is Spannish.
We ask people not to smoke on our premises.
